Times Of India reported that a new four-lane road bridge over river Ganga would soon be constructed to connect Dighwara (in Chhapra district) to Sherpur near Danapur in Patna district. The new bridge would be part of the revised alignment of 160-KM long Patna ring road and its construction cost of around INR 2,500 crore would be borne by the National Highway Authority of India.

Road construction department’s (ROD) principal secretary Amrit Lai Meena told TOI that “The Sherpur-end of the proposed new bridge will be connected to Kanhauli near Bihta through the 60-metre width ring road, to provide direct access to Bihta airport. Once ready, the bridge would provide hassle-free direct access to Bihta airport to the vehicles coming from all 26 districts of north Bihar.”

He said the proposed Dighwara-Shepur bridge would be sixth road bridge over Ganga in the Patna capital region. It would be constructed 12 to 15 KM west from the existing Digha-Sonepur road-cum-rail bridge over Ganga.

Construction work on the Kachchi Dargah-Bidupur road bridge and complete it within its stipulated period by January 2021.
