Expansion of Shaikh Isa Bin Salman Highway has been completed in accordance with plans to ease traffic congestion during rush hours. The project aims to transform the three-lane highway into a four-lane strategic artery, from the Salmabad intersection to Tubli junction. The infrastructure development costing BHD 1.689 million is part of projects directed by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier.

Traffic studies revealed that 45,000 eastern-bound vehicles use Shaikh Isa Bin Salman Highway on average daily. Studies have also revealed that the volume of traffic increases by seven to nine per cent annually. The current expansion project will contribute to enhancing traffic volume from 6,000 to 8,000 vehicles on average per hour.

The upgraded highway serves motorists coming from Saudi Arabia and those heading to trade outlets and housing locations in Isa Town, Salmabad, Sehla, Tubli, A’ali, Sanad, Riffa and other neighbouring areas.
