khl.com reported that Strabag’s Polish subsidiary has been awarded a further contract for a section of the A1 motorway in Poland, in a consortium with Poland’s Budimex in which Strabag holds 92%. The 17km Section C begins at the Kamie?sk junction and ends at Radomsko, where the construction of a motorway interchange forms part of the contract. The total value of the design-and-build contract is EUR 133 million. Construction is expected to begin before the end of 2018, with handover scheduled after a period of 32 months.

The contract includes the construction of a motorway section with three lanes in each direction, as well as 16 bridges and three rest areas.

Mr Thomas Birtel, Austrian-based Strabag’s CEO, said that “Just one month ago, we added a 16km long section of the A1 (between Tuszyn and Be?chatów) to our order books. That order is also being performed under a design-and-build contract, which means that we can apply our know-how already in the design phase.”
