ALS delivers Chinese solar turbine from England

breakbulk.com reported that cargo carrier ALS has transported a solar turbine from Irlam in England to China. The breakbulk unit weighed 52 tonnes and measured 5 meters high and was first moved by trailer from the packing plant to the nearby Irlam Container Terminal, from where it was shipped to Rotterdam. From there a team from ALS handled transshipment to ocean vessel bound for China.

A spokesperson for ALS, said that “ALS UK arranged a full range of services to the client including transport, loading to vessel, hire of specialist lifting gear, charter, stevedoring and a rigging gang for the welding & lashing.”

WWL ALS was formed as a merger between Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics and Abnormal Load Services. The joint-venture operates offices in UAE, Belgium, Finland, Germany, Holland, Italy, Romania, Spain, and the UK and provides logistics solutions for the rail, construction, mining, tunneling, oil and gas, offshore, and renewable energy sectors.
