Japanese transportation company Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, also called ‘K’ Line, has announced the delivery of Corona Zenith to Imabari Shipbuilding’s facility in Marugame. Corona Zenith is an 88,000 death weight tonne-type special coal carrier, similar to the company’s specialised Corona Series fleet, which is used for the transportation of thermal coal. The Corona Series fleet consists of coal carriers that are equipped with a wide beam and shallow draft, which are designed to enter the ports of domestic thermal power stations to unload cargo. Corona Zenith features the latest energy-saving and ecological technology, such as a Weather Adapted Duct that promotes propeller efficiency, as well as a ballast water management system that protects the marine ecosystem.

With the latest deployment, the Corona Series now consists of 22 carriers.

The company claimed that the Corona Series was favourably evaluated for providing a steady and reliable thermal coal transport service with maximum safety to customers. Corona Zenith has a length overall of 229.98 meter, a 38 meter beam, depth of 19.9 meter and a full draft of 13.904 meter.

Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha is involved in marine, land and air transportation. The company owns a fleet that includes dry cargo ships (bulk carriers), container ships, LNG carriers, ‘Ro-Ro’ ships, tankers and container terminals.
