Local media reported that Bulgarian aluminium products maker Alcomet expects its sales and production volumes in 2020 to surpass the 2019 levels, despite the negative effect of the coronavirus crisis on its business. The company's performance in terms of production in the first six months of this year supports these expectations. The individual net profit of Alcomet fell to 9.4 million levs from 13.6 million levs in 2018, while revenue decreased to 353.5 million levs, from 368.2 million levs a year earlier predominantly due to lower sales revenue. The company's sales dropped 0.9% on the year to 65,739 metric tons in 2019.

Alcomet is still working on planned investments, which are expected to double its production capacity over the next months. The company's plans to start producing car parts in 2021-2022 for a big company based in Germany with which it has signed ten-year contracts,

In April, Alcomet said that it has submitted for approval to the local environment inspectorate its investment proposal for the construction of new production facilities at the plant in Shumen. The value of the project was not disclosed. In January, Alsomet said it intends to build a new building and install computer numerical control machinery, which will allow the company to expand its product portfolio.

Last year, the company launched a new aluminium profiles production facility and said it is aiming to enter the automotive parts industry.

Alcomet produces household, technical and container foils, sheets and strips, as well as standard and customized profiles. The company exports over 90% of its output - mostly to Germany.
