Zambia October copper exports up by 25.2pct

Xinhua net reported that the volume of Zambia's copper exports increased in October compared to the previous month. The Central Statistical Office said that volume of copper exports increased by 25.2 % in October from 60,896.3 tons recorded in September to 76,250.3 tons in October. The increase in copper exports resulted in the country's trade deficit reducing by 58.35 % from 2,125.6 million Zambian Kwacha in September to 885.2 million Kwacha in October.

Mr John Kalumbi, the agency's director told reporters during a monthly briefing. Enditem that "The reduction in the deficit is mainly on account of a 25.2 % increase in the volume of copper exported as copper account for the largest weight in the export profile."
