The implementation of the revised pay structure, however, would cause an additional burden of Rs 30 crore annually to the state government.

UPCL managing director, BSK Mishra, said that "A revised pay band matrix has been announced for all the employees who have welcomed the decision. There have now called off their strike."

For past one month, the state government had been on the collision course with the agitating UPCL employees who were alleging discrepancies in the salary structures after the implementation of the seventh pay commission.

Mr Mishra said that "Discrepancies such as seniority and pay bracket have been removed for all the employees according to the revised government order. The state government has also put a condition that the discom would not increase the manpower (full time) without prior permission. Our entire focus is now on enhancing administrative efficiency in all the wings to ensure minimum losses (operational).”
