Earlier, Vattenfall announced that Nuon will change its name to that of parent company Vattenfall. In line with this decision, Vattenfall will now unite another brand, Powerpeers, under one name. At the same time, the services offered by Powerpeers will be made available to all Vattenfall customers in the Netherlands.

Powerpeers is a scale-up providing a marketplace, bringing together users, energy producing consumers and local energy sources from within its network. It allows users to choose their individual energy mix from selected local energy sources or create community based propositions. The platform enables energy producing customers to share their energy with other users real-time, providing a unique level of transparency and traceability. It was launched three years ago and has received several international recognitions since.

Mr Raymond van Eck, Managing Director Powerpeers Netherlands said that “We are proud to have started Powerpeers as an innovative solution enabling customers to actively participate in the transition to a more sustainable energy landscape. With customers increasingly connecting to each other and sharing renewable energy, we expect this transition to speed up”.

Vattenfall recently defined its ambition to make fossil free living possible within one generation. Ms Cindy Kroon, Vice-President Customers & Solutions Vattenfall Netherlands said that “Powerpeers has proven to be successful and we believe that even more customers want to connect to each other and share renewable energy. Therefore, we have decided to make this offer available to all our Vattenfall customers in the Netherlands.”
