NALCO announces Q3 result

National Aluminium Company Limited, the Navratna PSU, under Ministry of Mines, Govt. of India and country’s leading manufacturer and exporter of alumina and aluminium, has declared its financial results for & upto 3rd quarter ended December 2017. It reported good revenue and earnings growth for Q3FY18. Revenues for the quarter rose by 20.1% YoY to INR 2,388 crore. EBITDA stood at INR 343.7crore, up by 20.5% yoy. EBIDTA margin rose by 5bps yoy to 14.4%. Adjusted Net Profit stood at INR 194.4crore for Q3FY18, up 14.4%.

Bauxite production for 9MFY18 stood at 54.4 lakh tonnes against 53.23lakh tonnes, an increase of 2.2% YoY.

Metal production for 9MFY18 stood at 3.17 lakh tonnes against 2.86 lakh tonnes, an increase of 10.8% YoY.

Segmental revenue for the quarter stood at INR 1,688.5crore for the aluminium segment and INR 1,223.3crore for the chemicals segment.

Segmental EBIT for the quarter stood at a loss of INR 91.1 crore for the aluminium segment and INR 389.6 crore for the chemicals segment.

Raw material costs have trended lower on both annual and sequential basis. As a result, gross margins have risen by 239bps YoY and 71bps QoQ.

Dr Tapan Kumar Chand, CMD, NALCO said that “With robust monetary policy of the Government and demand-supply dynamics brightening, aided by growth in the construction and power sectors, pick-up in the automobile segment as well as firming up of aluminium prices globally, we hope to post similar results in the next mandate.”
