TOI reported that the Patna Smart City Private Limited is to install smart poles in the city. The 12-metre-high poles will have LED lights, antenna for telecommunications network, Wi-Fi, closed-circuit television cameras, pollution sensors, charging points for electric vehicles, solar panel, traffic signals, weather sensors and digital boards. An integrated command and control centre will be set up on the Patna police headquarters premises near Gandhi Maidan to monitor the smart poles in the city.

Patna divisional commissioner Mr Robert L Chongthu told this newspaper that “The departments concerned can get from the proposed control room all the data, information or complaints, including that of violation of red light signal, level of pollution, video footage of traffic movement and e-challans, among others.”

However, the construction work of G+4 ICCC has already been started by a private firm selected for the purpose. The estimated cost of the project is INR 13 crore and is slated to be completed by October 2020.
