Chinese coal output in Q1 up by 6pct YoY

China Knowledge quoted according to figures from the China Federation of Logistics & Purchasing that China, the world largest coal producer and consumer saw its coal output reach 860 million tonnes in the first quarter of this year up by 5.6%YoY.

In March, the country produced 320 million tonnes of coal reflecting a growth of 4.9%YoY.

China imported 61.73 million tonnes of coal in the first three months, 63% more than in the corresponding period of last year. The country\'s coal exports fell 44.7%YoY to 3.2 million tonnes in the period.

The country added 920 million metric tons of coal reserves in the quarter up by 8.1%YoY. In 2011, the country\'s coal output rose 8.7%YoY to 3.52 billion tonnes.
