Local media reported that the Pueblo County Department of Health and Environment confirmed that there is an active COVID-19 outbreak at the EVRAZ/Rocky Mountain Steel Mill. EVRAZ reported the outbreak to health officials on September 18. According to EVRAZ North America, three employees who work in the rail mill contracted the virus and are no longer working while they recover. Through contact tracing, EVRAZ has identified other employees who may have been in contact with the three confirmed cases. However, none are showing symptoms of the virus. EVRAZ has taken steps to mitigate the spread of the virus including disinfecting a portion of the facility that may have been in contact with the three confirmed cases. The rail mill, where the three employees worked, is currently shut down for two weeks. However, EVRAZ says the facility has not been shut down because of the outbreak, but for an annual maintenance check-up.

An outbreak in a facility is defined as two or more cases of COVID-19 during a 14 day period.
