India can conserve 1 lakh MW solar energy by 2020 - Mr Javadekar

Mr Prakash Javadekar, State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change of Minister, said that India can conserve one lakh megawatts of energy via solar power by the year 2020, energy efficiency is a pressing concern for the nation.

Mr Javadekar speaking at conference on India\'s climate policy said that “India can achieve the target of conserving 100,000 MW of solar energy by next 5 years. Energy efficiency should become the way of life for all Indians.”

He said that “The government has identified 17 critically polluting sectors. The ministry has also mandated stringent rules for cement industries to lessen the pollution. The government plans to engage 3206 units to put in place the monitoring devices on the affluent discharge points and on chimneys of the industries to check the level of pollution.”
