JSPL & Vedanta unveil mega investment plans in Jharkhand

Keen to get a strong foothold in Jharkhand, several steel makers have announced big investment plans during Momentum Jharkhand Global Investors Summit

Jindal Steel & Power Limited
JSPL will invest INR 20,000 crore in Jharkhand in a few years, in addition to INR 3,000 crore it has already invested in the state. JSPL will take the capacity of its steel plant at Patratu here to six million tonnes from the present 1.6 million tonnes per annum. The company operates a Bar Rod Mill (1MTPA) and a Wire Rod Mill (0.6 MTPA) along with a rebar service centre.

Vedanta Resources Group
The initial foray will be with a USD 1 billion investment that includes setting up a one-million tonne steel plant. Vedanta initially plans to invest about INR 2,000 crore in setting up a one million tonne pig iron and ductile pipe plant at Manoharpur in West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand.
