Hurriyet Daily cited Mr Taner Yıldız energy minister of Turkey as saying that there is no obstacle before the Energy Market Regulatory Authority in licensing the renewable energy projects.

EMRA presented a portfolio of 1698 renewable energy projects capable in total of 31.555 MW power generations to the Turkish Electricity Transmission Company or TEİAŞ and to General Directorate of Electrical Power Resources Survey and Development Administration or, EİE.

Mr Taner Yıldız focused on ongoing renewable energy projects in his speech underlining that the ministry attached paramount importance to green energy. He said that some 27% of all the 207 billion KW per hour electricity consumed by Turkey comes from national and renewable energy resources, mostly referring to hydropower. The rate should be 30% in order to catch up with Turkey’s rapid growth.

He said that in the following weeks the parliament was to take the renewable energy law discussions to its agenda and the draft was to be given the final form as quickly as possible.
