Chousn Ilbo reported that Hyundai Steel has inked a long term contract on supplying an annual 100,000 tonnes of PAI grade hot rolled steel with India’s Welspun Gujarat, the world’s second largest line pipe manufacturer.
Hyundai Steel disclosed on March 19th 2009 that its Vice Chairman MrPark Seung-ha met Welspun Gujarat Chairman Mr BKGoenka in Anjar in India and decided to supply hot rolled steel sheets used for an oil pipeline to local plants in India and the US from April.
The recent long-term supply contract was reached in just six months since a trial shipment to Welspun India plant was implemented in last September.
A Hyundai Steel official stated that “The recently agreed contract proves that Hyundai Steel has been recognized with its quality in the sector of API grade steel plate, considered as the most high-quality steel plate. Via the recent contract, we formed a bridgehead that can supply materials to overseas line pipe project sites.”
