Taiwanese steel plate prices rise
Wednesday, 24 Jun 2009

Taiwan's mills have quoted the plate price at TWD 18,000 per tonne in the last two weeks, but the price isn’t acceptable to buyers and other mills have not followed the price rise.

However, when the steel plate price is stable in the range of TWD 18,000 per tonne, one of the mills has quoted the price at TWD 19,000 per tonne for first grade products, but is not getting any orders at this price at this time.

Some dealers said that China Steel Corporation's AP plate price in the market for June is around TWD 17,100 to TWD 17,500 per tonne, but now some mills have quoted TWD 19,000 per tonne; this is not affecting the market, as any price increase must depend on market demand reviving.
