China Mining reported that Mr Lu Youqing Chinalco vice general manager recently denied the market rumors that the company is talking with the Australian mining company Fortescue Metals Group for acquisition of the latter.
Mr Lu said the hearsay is nothing but rumor. He added that Chinalco hasn't considered about any iron ore projects but may shift its focus back to businesses of base metals such as copper and aluminum.
Mr Lu noted that the company now has no interest in iron ore projects.
