Rizhao moves ahead in obsolete capacity closure drive

Qilu Evening News reported that totaling 8 vertical kilns and 4 coal burning boilers were removed recently in Rizhao, the last city in Shandong Province that failed to fulfill energy conserve target last year, reflecting its firm decision in energy conserve and emission cut.

According to the report, Rizhao would control cement production under 7 million tonnes this year and steel output, 6.5 million tonnes. Meanwhile, the power generating capacity of Huaneng Rizhao power plant's second phase project would be compressed with the construction of the third stage postponed.

Totaling 14 vertical kilns at cement companies and 6 boilers in thermoelectricity firms would be dismantled this year in local. In the mean time, 2 blast furnaces, 2 converters and 2 sintering machines in Rizhao Steel would be closed.
