Trade Arabia reported that Navayuga Engineering Company has added Jordan to its portfolio.
The move comes at a crucial time when Jordan has undertaken a number of important development projects including an ambitious commuter railway project and a major urban development project in Amman. The company expects to generate a turnover of USD 200 million in the Middle East by 2011.
Mr Antony A David GM of NEC said that “Our entry into Jordan is in line with NEC’s long term investment strategy to significantly build our presence in the Kingdom’s infrastructure and construction segment. Our strategy is to use our regional expertise to support Jordan’s potential and to establish strong relationships with partners in the country.”
In recognition of its expertise in completing high profile projects in the UAE, NEC has now been signed up as contractor to undertake major piling and construction activities in Jordan. The company bagged its first project USD 3.5 million contract for a five star hotel in Amman.
Another important project that NEC will be working on in Jordan is the USD 5 billion Abdali Urban Regeneration Project which involves the development of the new downtown of Amman to create a smart urban living environment combining residential, commercial and leisure facilities. The project is headed by Abdali Investment and Development.
The new city centre is being built on a total area of 384,000 square meters with a built up area of 1.7 million square meters. Once completed in 2010, the new smart city will act as the major business district for Amman and cater to the needs of thousands of Jordanian and foreign nationals who choose Jordan as their living and investment destination.
NEC, a part of India’s CVR Navayuga Group also has a strong track record in India where it is involved in the construction of ports, flyovers, elevated highways and other mammoth construction projects. After its success in the UAE, NEC established its first overseas piling business branch in Qatar in 2006 and is currently involved in major projects outside Doha.
