Reuters reported that Algerian state energy group Sonatrach's revenues from oil and gas exports fell by more than half to USD 31 billion in January to September 2009.
Sonatrach's total revenues for 2008 were USD 76 billion. In addition, the state benefited from USD 4.3 billion windfall tax on foreign energy companies operating in Algeria. BP, Amerada Hess, StatoilHydro, Anadarko Petroleum Corporation, Repsol and Total are the main foreign companies involved in the exploration and production of hydrocarbons in Algeria.
Mr Mohamed Meziane CEO of Sonatrach said that our revenues reached around USD 31 billion. He said that the figure was down from USD 63 billion in the same period of 1008 due to lower global oil prices.
