
China Knowledge reported that state owned China Power Investment Corp which was launched in 2002 and has a registered capital of CNY 12 billion on November 10th started two coal gasification projects in Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture and Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
The two projects will cost more than RMB 50 billion and will have an annual output of 12 billion cubic meters of gas in total in the next three to five years.
One project, which will be located in Qapqal Xibe Autonomous County, will cost CNY 27 billion and will be jointly developed by China Power Investment and a power firm based in Xinjiang. The other project will be located in Huocheng County.
Mr Huang Baojun deputy secretary of the strategy and planning department of China Power Investment said that the two projects will be connected to the West-East Gas Pipeline.
According to China Power Investment's official website, the enterprise has several listed power subsidies. These include China Power International Development Ltd and Chongqing Jiulong Electric Power Co Ltd.
