Metalloinvest has completed a comprehensive project of building a high-capacity computing complex at its data centre in Stary Oskol. Metalloinvest completed the construction of the data centre in February 2018. The centre has the required IT infrastructure to be ready for the launch of the SAP 4/HANA business management suite. The highly-efficient fail-safe infrastructure was supplied by JSA Group (part of Metalloinvest) and Talmer, a system integrator. Experts from Talmer created technological solutions and supplied equipment as well as software system support, developing network designs to create a unified information environment and facilitate the efficient connection of equipment at the data centre. As part of strict fail-safe and system accessibility regulations, JSA Group, Metalloinvest’s centre for IT solutions, designed and implemented the technical systems of SAP.

Oleg Laktyushin, Director of the IT department at Metalloinvest, said: “Following the implementation of these new solutions, the SAP information systems have been put into commercial operation. With these solutions active, we can now take the next steps in Metalloinvest’s digital transformation.”

Konstantin Zelenkov, Technical Director at JSA Group, added: “The collaboration of the JSA Group and Talmer project teams enabled us to develop and introduce solutions which are in line with modern IT requirements at the enterprise. The highly-efficient infrastructure solutions facilitate the expansion and launch of other systems necessary for the successful functioning of the enterprise’s business processes.”

Metalloinvest is implementing Industry 4.0, a comprehensive programme of digital transformation to improve business-process efficiency, increase the accuracy of planning and reduce expenditures.

As part of the first wave of Industry 4.0, an integrated financial and business management system using the SAP S/4HANA business suite was launched on 1 July 2018 at Lebedinsky GOK and Mikhailovsky GOK. The platform, which unifies more than 4,000 users in one information system, has replaced more than 100 production and management systems. It was implemented with the support of the SAP Digital Business Services team, while Accenture was the main contractor in the project.

Metalloinvest began the second wave of Industry 4.0 on 1 October 2018 at OEMK and Ural Steel. The second stage will be completed in mid-2019.
